Enzyme assignment tip

Just helped a patron who was looking up basic information for a particular enzyme (similar to the chemistry assignment). The faculty member had suggested looking in the 'Sigma catalog', but we couldn't figure out what specific resource that might be. She had already tried the 'Sigma-Aldrich' database in the catalog and was unable to locate her enzyme there.

I suggested that she try the Springer handbook of enzymes in the reference collection in the Learning Commons (QP601 .E5158 2005). She later came back and said it was a great resource and had all the information necessary for the assignment.

Sounds like the whole class will be doing this for different enzymes, so this resource may be helpful to other students, as well.

Josh might be able to help us figure out what the 'Sigma catalog' is?

The Sigma Catalog is the same thing as the Aldrich book nowadays. You may recall that the website is actually Sigma-Aldrich.com. Sigma-Aldrich is the parent company of the Sigma, Aldrich, Fluka, and Supelco chemical companies. I'm guessing the enzymes reference book is probably more specific and detailed for what they're after, good recommendation.
